Our next 'Library on Tour' destination perhaps???
I have read a couple of articles about this new library, but this one has lots of photos! I'm not sure what to think, is this the way to go with libraries? However it is a beautiful building. Story and photos courtesy of the Chicago Sun Times.
Wow now we're being replaced by cranes! A new low! Only joking, the building is lovely and I can see how students would like this. But in the article it says the system facilitates browsing, & I cant see how? What about the serendipity of finding great, unexpected things on the shelf?? The catalogue can only hint at the physical holdings...
ReplyDeleteThe inside from afar like looks the Musee d'orsay in Paris, the outside looks like a Biodome. It looks cool but I like a library to smell more of books. It's a bit too clinical for my tastes.
